Concrete, the humble material in many a building foundation, is fast becoming a material that architects, designers, and homeowners are using to create spectacular spaces inside homes.

Leading the charge in the concrete craze are concrete countertops and vanities. Once the realm of either the do-it-yourself or the very wealthy, concrete countertops are now starting to appear in just about every sort of home, from moderately priced houses to high-end palaces.

A unique aesthetic

Generally, when you thome concrete counter tophink about kitchen countertops, the materials that often come to mind are granite, marble or tile. Other types of surface material, for example, formica or laminate, also mostly look like granite, marble or tile.

However, if you’re tired of seeing the same look in every kitchen, then concrete is the answer.

Irrespective of whether an interior is traditional, contemporary or somewhere between, concrete is an amazingly versatile medium for expressing the aesthetic of the homeowner.

Limitless possibilities with concrete countertops

With granite, marble or tile you are limited in what you can do; not so with concrete. In Bathroom Concrete Countertopsaddition to its natural virtues, such as durability and easy maintenance, concrete is incredibly versatile and has countless possibilities when it comes to shape and colour.

Shapes of concrete countertops are only limited by imagination and the ability to build the forms. With the use of colour pigments in combination with white cement and various aggregates, the spectrum of colours available in concrete countertops is virtually limitless.

Function and refinement in Castor Bay

Best Concrete Countertop

With concrete, you can create a functional and beautiful workspace in even the smallest of kitchens. But if you do have the room, concrete’s ability to custom-create the heart of your home is truly amazing, as evidenced by couple Ben and Kylie’s recent completion of their dream home in Auckland’s North Shore suburb of Castor Bay.

Ben and Kylie’s home was built by Ray Sale’s team from Haven Renovations– who did a wonderful job as you can see. The kitchen and cabinetry for the home were supplied by Dean Lucas of dlcabinetmaking.

Did you perhaps see Ben on The Block?

When the owners asked Dean to find a material for the countertops that would suit their lifestyle and aesthetic tastes, it was no surprise that concrete, with its versatility and adaptability, turned out to be the ideal solution. As a result, Dean recommended the artisans at Slatecrete Paving to manufacture the kitchen benchtops and bathroom vanities.

The intention of the design was to provide as much function as possible while resulting in an environment that would be highly versatile as well as calm and serene. Concrete was the perfect material because it could be used to create both horizontal and vertical finishes that are refined, monolithic and minimalist. Take note of the waterfall ends that support the island bench top.In addition, the concrete could be completely customized in colour and texture to support the colours and material palette of the rest of the fit out.
